Major kudos to Tammy Pahel, aka “Tammy from Miami” and the team at Turnberry Isle Miami on today’s grand opening of The âme Spa & Wellness Collective—a spa for the times if ever there was one. The project, according to Pahel, Executive Spa Director, took about a year, from beginning to end. The most challenging part? “Finding and gathering the talent that would surround us.” The main goal: How to truly integrate the wellness component into a spa and a resort.
“I knew what I was looking for in the talent—I was looking for someone who had the same vision I did, the same passion for bringing healing to people,” shares Pahel. Not through prescription medicine but through holistic therapies—from Nikki Costello with her Iyengar yoga to Rezilir Health. By the time I met Rezilir Health’s founders, I had interviewed ten doctors who were all self-serving. But when I looked into the [Rezilir] founders’ eyes, I could see they wanted to do something for people, preventively, one-hundred percent.”
The âme Spa & Wellness Collective (âme is the French word for “soul,” by the way) officially opened its doors today, January 10th, at Turnberry Isle Miami, setting a new standard in luxury resort spa and wellness destinations.
Here’s more information, released in a press announcement:
Curated by a collective comprising forward-thinking global practitioners, âme is at the vanguard of both Eastern and Western modalities, offering integrated strategies that allow clients to manage stress, encourage strength and flexibility, lose weight, cultivate equanimity, look and feel younger, and create new patterns that can last a lifetime—all within a supportive community.
One of the most innovative aspects of the âme experience is access to best-of-class experts who oversee ongoing programming and lead on-property retreats. At the forefront is a team of board-certified functional and integrative clinicians from Rezilir Health™. Rezilir clinicians Dr. Craig Tanio, Dr. Susan Pilossoph, Dr. Yoav Suprun, Dr. David Wexler, Susan Luck RN, and April Hanemann, RN are on call at âme to create custom, sustainable health plans for clients to improve wellbeing, cognitive performance and executive function; to balance hormones; and to manage weight loss and stress. Dr. Karen Koffler will join the team on site in May 2017.
“Our goal is to facilitate solutions that address the needs and wellness objectives of our guests; and to deliver the resources, community, and knowledge they can draw upon in their daily lives,” says Jackie Soffer, Chief Executive Officer and Co Chairman of Turnery Associates.
Throughout 2017, âme will also host weekend-long retreats with Master Yoga teacher Nikki Costello (four retreats), plant-based chef and entrepreneur Matthew Kenney (three retreats), and nutrition expert Amy Shapiro (five retreats), along with other influential figures that are shaping the wellness space.
Every Saturday, the âme-azing program curates special experiences for resort visitors and local spa members. These are day-long retreats featuring experts like Vixen Workout and motivational speaker Janet Jones, fitness bootcamp and Fitbox method trainer Ernanda Bensten, and certified personal trainer and fitness expert Olga Cameron.

Central to the spa’s operating philosophy is a highly personalized approach for each and every spa guest to optimize their unique health and wellbeing. Offering everything from the traditional services spa-goers know and love, to culturally authentic experiences and unconventional health and beauty treatments like Japanese Iyashi Dome and Alisselle Amethyst Quartz Massage, the spa menu includes more than 70 unique treatments designed to address both aesthetic and functional concerns with massage, exfoliation, aroma- and color-therapy, and more. There are more than 96 classes offered each week including classes in yoga, spinning, Pilates, and HIIT.
The newly renovated 20,000 square-foot, three-floor luxury spa has 22 treatment rooms, a yoga studio, a spinning room, a private Pilates room, and a weight training and cardio studio. Treatment rooms feature equipment from Gharieni, which incorporates color and sound therapies to encourage rapid relaxation. âme also features a cryotherapy facility, an Ayurvedic treatment area for dosha-balancing, and its signature Wellness Circuit that combines aqua therapy, heat, and a Himalayan seat salt room for maximum regeneration.
The opening of âme follows a $2.5 million expansion in Turnberry’s spa facility and a complete redesign of the spa’s offerings. The spa also has museum-quality art installations by Robert Rauschenberg, Ugo Rondinone, and Claus Oldenburg.
